Everyone….quick…to the store….it’s going to SNOOOWWW!  Depending on the weather station you watch 2-4 inches coming tonight.  Winter storm advisory starting around 6 pm and ending around noon Tuesday. OH NOOOOOOO…….!

This morning I am writing you from home because my computer monitor at work is having some major issues.  I figured you wouldn’t mind.

We had a special delivery at church this week.  Someone has gifted a fireplace for the church.  It’s a portable plug in on wheels. We haven’t opened it yet but we will this week, I have a feeling it’s going to be real nice.  Pastor & I, most of the time, work using only a space heater to heat up our offices so we don’t have to heat up the whole church.  I think my little space heater isn’t putting out the heat it use to and I was probably going to buy a new one for next year, but now I may not need to.  Pastor will get 1st dibs, but who knows it may work well in the FH for Sunday mornings.  Thank you to the person who bought the fireplace.  It was very thoughtful and generous of you; I know it will be very useful in a lot of ways.

Someone also brought in boxes of Kleenix, we can always use Kleenix, thank you!

This past week the ladies met at Turoni’s on Weinbach…I just love Turoni’s.  On our last trip to Turonis’s I got a med Pizza with the works, ate what I wanted and took the rest home for Tom.  This time I wasn’t so generous, I got their half Stromboli and ate the whole thing.  Pretty good to I might add.  I think Tom stayed home and had PBJ.  Boy do I feel bad……NOT!   The ladies did talk about inviting the men so on the next ladies night out the men can “tag along” if they want and have their own men’s night out, at another table of course.  I put a sign up sheet out for the next Ladies Night (pink sheet) & Men’s Night (blue sheet) on the Narthex.  This night will be held at Old Chicago on March 2 at 6:30 pm.  The sign up is only used to make reservations you can still come if you didn’t get signed up we can always add chairs.

Pastor Rork was at the church on Wednesday and held a deaf bible study.  I believe they had about 6 in attendance that night and where expecting a couple of more people but I think they stayed home because of the cold.  So they have a pretty good turn out.

We had a quick voters assembly yesterday to accept our new Mission Statement.  In case you missed it here it is:

“Our Saviour Lutheran Church, anchored in God’s Word, is committed to proclaiming the Gospel to all people, including the unchurched in our community, and to encouraging our members and community to live in the grace and mercy of Christ.”

We had 51 people in worship, and I don’t know how many stayed for Adult bible study and Sunday school because I didn’t stay and I don’t have the checklists.

Don’t forget the Spaghetti dinner Sunday, Feb 14.  The youth will be serving you Baked Spaghetti, Salad, Garlic Bread, desserts and Lemonade.  The youth will be making the food, and Lydi Ann has accepted (offered) the position of Spaghetti preparation.  I figured if we wanted a decent meal I shouldn’t make it and neither should the kids.  So Lydi Ann stepped up and volunteered.  The cost of the meal is $5.00 each and will be put in the Youth Group Fund.  The kids are trying to raise money so they and future youth group kids and attend some of the youth gatherings.  They will also place a free will offering (tip) basket out.

A vision-planning meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb 9 at 6:30.  This is not a special board but a meeting for everyone to attend and give ideas.  If you didn’t get your green sheet completed you can e-mail your ideas to Pastor, Tom, or myself.

The Board of Education and Board of Stewardship & Outreach will also be meeting this week.  Board of Ed on Tuesday, Feb 9 at 5:30 pm and: Stewardship/Outreach on Thursday, Feb 11 at 7:00 pm.

On Friday Feb 19 we will have a Dinner & Movie Night. Dinner will begin at 6; the movie will start at 6:30.    This is a family night and is free, I do ask for a sign up so we know how much dinner to purchase.  Again sign up is not necessary come even if you didn’t get signed up, it’s just a guide.  I have no idea on what we are eating or what movie we will be showing, but come and bring your friends.

Our Mission of the month is; For the Sake of the church

I made a few errors in the Sunday bulletin one of which is the Voter’s meeting and Potluck.  This will be held on Feb 21 not Feb 14.  Feb 14 is the Spaghetti dinner.

Make sure you have your calendar marked for Feb 17, that is Ash Wednesday.  A dinner will be served at 5:30 pm hosted by Nick & Cynthia and the Ash Wednesday Service will begin at 6:30 pm.

That should about cover the events for this week and some of next.

Patti
