Did you all make it to the Fall Festival this year?  My Dad and I made it on Wednesday; we split a Texas Tenderloin with pickle and onion.  It rained Thursday and Friday; the Health Fair was on Saturday so I never made it back to the festival.  Tom and I usually make it down at least once but not this year.  He made it down during his lunch hour on Monday & Tuesday though.

I made some progress in my office this weekend; I am hoping to finish up in the next couple of weeks.  Stop laughing!

The Health Fair was a huge success.  It was crowded downstairs pretty much the whole time.  There were vendors with free samples, we did blood pressures, body mass, blood testing, pulmonary test, eye test, hearing test, there was a table to learn how to give the “bear hug” when someone is choking, free massages by Laura Jackson, free candy, free hot dogs, drinks, ice cream, and face painting.  We had some strange looking people walking the halls and lots of kids with tattoo paintings.  Mahealani did an excellent with the face painting.  There were also other booths representing hospice care, nutrition, ELS and some of our church information was out too, and more.  I don’t have the exact number but I believe Pastor announced 60-70 people however I would have guessed more.  Next year I know will be bigger and better.

We had a “Comfort Zone Sunday” as part of our celebration for Pastor Appreciation Month.  We did a good job if I say so myself.  I didn’t get a chance to talk with Pastor but I know he enjoyed it.

We had 54 in worship, 24 in adult bible study, and 4 in Sunday school.  The youth stayed in Adult bible study.  I believe 6 of our members participated in a Marathon yesterday.

We said prayers for our Mission of the month, Friends of Mercy; and for all the pastors that will meet at the Indiana District Conference this week.

Announcements following worship:

Pastor: Pledge Sunday is next week

Sandra: Board of Ed will be meeting this week at 6:30

Nick: Thanked people that helped with the Health Fair.  Also said the vendors were thanking us for asking them to be a part of our health fair, we should be thanking them.

I have placed the 2010 Lutheran subscription order.  Some of you have paid and some didn’t.  If you have not paid please make a check payable to Our Saviour Lutheran Church for $15.00 for each subscription and give it to Margaret or me.

The Board of Education will be meeting Tuesday at 6:30 pm and the Church Council will be meeting on Thursday at 6:30.

Celebrating birthdays this week:

CJ Foster, Thursday, Oct 15

Charles Briel, Thursday, Oct 15

Another work bee has been scheduled for Nov 21.  This will be mainly for leaves but a list of other job needing to be done will be available.  Again we will have donuts at 8 and Chili will be served for lunch.

Remember to bring your pledges Sunday, Oct 18 to place on the Altar, remember we are not asking you to put your name on the pledge unless you want to.  If you didn’t pick up your packet on pledges they will be mailed to you.  If you have any questions feel free to call pastor.  This is part of our prescription to the self-study.

Speaking about the self-study, I don’t have much detail but I hear Rev. Robinson will be returning on Oct 31.

Next Sunday we will be following the Divine Service 1 service.  The readings are Ecclesiastes 5:10-20, Hebrew 4:1-16, and Mark 10:23-31

Serving:

Elder, Andy

Deacon, John

Organist, Margaret

Ushers, Tom & Ragon

Altar, Kathy

Greeters, The Gregg Family

Mission Sunday will be held on Oct 25th.  Rev. Thomas Baker from the Concordia Mission Society will be our guest speaker.  A brunch is scheduled following worship; a sign up sheet is at the Narthex.

Think I just about covered everything so until next time..
