My niece, Randie and her husband Alan left this morning, I know they are anxious to get back home to Texas. Alan has family in Ohio so they went there for Thanksgiving and a high school reunion. Alan’s grandma got sick a day before Thanksgiving, and then Randie and Alan got sick while they where there. Hope they didn’t bring us back some germ, so far so good though. We took care of their dog Ariah (?) while they were in Ohio; I think they said she is a Golden Doodle, a mix of Golden Retriever and Poodle. Today when I return home from work it will be quiet, Ariah will not be at the door to greet me and give me kisses.
Most of you know one of my other nieces Haley H. she is 12 years old, I now have her in secretarial training J She has been helping me with the attendance and other tasks. This week she reported 51 people in worship, 15 in Adult Bible Study according to the attendance sheet passed around, and I’m guessing 14 in Sunday school & Youth group.
In our Prayers this week:

Then on Wednesday, Dec 2 the Alldredges and Greggs will treat everyone to an Advent Dinner at 5:30 pm. Following the dinner will be a vespers service beginning at 6:30 pm.

The final work-bee of the year, yippee, is scheduled for this coming Saturday, Dec 5. About 20 young men from USI will be here to help rake the yard. There is other work too. If the ground is not too wet we need to remove the pile of debris and deliver it to Sandra's house for disposal. If we can get a door for the kitchen someone could install it , just a note on the door, funds came in for the purchase of the door a while back but the trustees wanted to make sure the leak in that area was fixed before they installed it. If you have something else you want to work on that is fine too. Just remember any major jobs to talk it over with the trustees first. I will see about getting a list out for the work-bee. Oh…. donuts at 8 and a Chili lunch.
Sunday will be another busy day for us at the church. This is the day of Christmas Caroling and the Christmas Social. Everyone is invited. You do not need to Carol to attend the Social. If you would like to Carol the board asks that you be in fellowship hall at 1:30 pm. They plan on leaving the building at 1:45. They will visit Brentwood (Irma) and Angel River (Susan) before returning to the Social event. The social will begin at 4 pm. We plan on having a pulled pork dinner buffet and the chocolate fountain. This year we will incorporate the “not a real formal dinner” by adding a strolling minstrel and the Pogue Girls have offered to sing us some Christmas Carols. Any “tips” will go to the “Not a Real Formal Dinner” fundraiser. Anyone needing transportation please call me; Jim S will be playing the role of “Limo Service” and I am his scheduler.
I think that has this week about covered. Now for a couple of things I didn’t get in the bulletin.
The Luv for Life: The Board of Stewardship/Outreach gave me a blurb for the bulletin but I forgot to put it in. So my apologies to the Board and I promise to get it in next week. So here is what was supposed to be in the bulletin.
Luv for Life – In thankfulness for the blessing of Life God gives to us through children, the Boards of Outreach and Stewardship are sponsoring a Diaper drive for Birthright. Any brand disposable diaper size 0-2 is needed. Place your donations in the designated box in the foyer anytime through the Advent/Christmas season until Life Sunday, January 17, 2010. Birthright provides caring, non-judgmental support to girls and women who are distressed by an unplanned pregnancy. Birthright offers positive and living alternatives. They provide friendship and emotional support and free maternity and baby clothes. Let us show our love for the Christ child by support the needs of the infants in our midst.
I placed Coin Folders on the Narthex table for our Advent Collection to the seminarians. Due to the cost of the coin folders I did not place them in the mailboxes so only those that want to complete a coin folder can take one. Please take one, put in your coins, bills, or check to Our Saviour Lutheran Church and place in the offering plate before Dec 31.
Ok, moving on to next week.
